Daniel Sams Stretchered Off After Shocking Collision With Cameron Bancroft in Big Bash League - اخبارك الان, اليوم الجمعة 3 يناير 2025 06:56 مساءً

Daniel Sams was carried off the field on a stretcher on Friday following a shocking collision with his teammate Cameron Bancroft during a Big Bash League match.

The Sydney Thunder duo collided head-first while chasing the same ball in their game against the Perth Scorchers.

Bancroft, 32, suffered a bloodied nose but managed to stand and walk off the pitch independently. Sams, also 32, was in worse condition and required immediate medical assistance before being stretchered off.

The match at Optus Stadium in Perth was delayed for 12 minutes as medical staff attended to the players.

Update on Players' Condition
Sydney Thunder provided an update on social media: "Both players are conscious and talking, demonstrating symptoms of concussion, and have possible fractures. Both have been transported to hospital for assessment."

The Collision
The incident occurred during the first innings when Sams and Bancroft chased down a shot by Cooper Connolly.

“There’s been a horrendous collision,” commented Fox Cricket’s Mel Jones. “Both players were fully committed to the ball, with their eyes on it, and didn’t see each other coming. This is what you never want to see.”

Jones added, “It’s a positive sign seeing Cam Bancroft on his feet and walking off, though he appears to have sustained a nose injury. It was sheer courage from both players.”

Impact on the Match
Perth Scorchers wrapped up their innings at 177-4, with Connolly unbeaten on 43. Sydney Thunder brought in Ollie Davies and Hugh Weibgen as concussion substitutes for Bancroft and Sams in their batting lineup.
